Relaxed Screenings are open to all but have some changes made to make the event more accessible to people who might find a standard cinema screening challenging, including those living with dementia and those with learning disabilities and their carers. Familiarisation Visits before the event date can be arranged for those attending relaxed performances and a Visual Story of The Theatre itself is available.
Film tickets £5, with registered carers going free. Please call the Box Office to book.
APRIL IN PARIS (1953)
A chorus girl mistakingly receives an invitation to represent the American theatre at an arts exposition in France. The bureaucrat who made the mistake tries unsuccessfully to correct his mix-up but it's too late, for Ethel “Dynamite” Jackson is already off to Paris, Duration: 1hr 40mins.
Moving Towards Being A Dementia Friendly Theatre
Here at The Theatre we are looking for ways to make our activities as accessible as possible for a group often under-served in the Arts – those living with dementia and their families. Alongside our range of existing activities, we are interested in hearing more ideas on how to engage this community, and in talking to those already working in this area.
