We have upgraded our cinema system to full Dolby Digital Surround Sound.  The first big test of the new system will be for the screenings of Dark Knight, the new Batman film to be screened next week on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th September at 7.30pm.  Audiences will notice a much improved quality and clarity for most of our films as all modern films now have this format.  Older films that do not have the Dolby track will still be screened in surround sound but not Dolby Digital.  Full films listings are available in the what’s on section of our website.

Chipping Norton Theatre says farewell to Director Caroline Sharman at the end of June. Caroline arrived in town in 2002 with husband Alonso and family and, during the 6 years since she took over from Tamara Malcolm, has had a lively and successful impact on the life of The Theatre.

'It has been a wonderful experience to be leading a team full of so much enthusiasm for their Theatre. The loyalty and passion of the Council and its supporters has made the job a real pleasure.'  Caroline Sharman.

During her time she has toured opera round the villages, initiated Movies on the Move, forged international collaborations in particular with France, overseen the building of The Space and led many community initiatives around the Town with all the schools. She has also directed the last 5 of the famous Chippy pantos to packed houses.

Caroline is moving with her family to Portsmouth, where she will become Director of The New Theatre Royal. She hands over the reins to John Terr
