Think The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie meets Lord of the Flies as Cracks, the dazzling directorial debut of Jordan Scott (daughter of Ridley Scott), comes to Chipping Norton this Tuesday.  Set in a 1930s girls boarding school the film follows the arrival of beautiful Spanish student, Fiamma, and the tensions, jealousies and passions she evokes.  Eva Green (Quantum of Solace) stars as Miss G, the glamourous swimming teacher and Juno Temple (Atonement) plays the displaced school favourite.

With our new film season about to begin we're glad to say we've picked a number of Oscar contenders.

The 82nd Academy Award nominations were announced this afternoon and include 6 nominations for Up In The Air (see it here on Sunday 14th March) including Best Picture and George Clooney for Best Actor, 2 nominations for Invictus (Thurs 25th & Sun 27th March) for Morgan Freeman (Best Actor) & Matt Damon (Best Supporting Actor) and 2 for The White Ribbon (Sun 11th Apr).

Yet again there is a good representation of British talent.  Colin Firth has received his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor in A Single Man (Fri 9th Apr) and previous Oscar winner Helen Mirren is again up for Best Actress in The Last Station (Tues 13th & Weds 14th Apr).

There is still ticket availability for shows this week apart from The Temperance Seven which has now sold out.
